is unique to Halifax Nova Scotia and was established in 1932.

It has remained continuously in business since that date.
In 2005 the Bakery was modernised and the Cafe remodelled.
May 1st 2006 saw the completion of our Studio/Office development on the East side of the existing structure.
This has also allowed us the opportunity to upgrade our "preparation area" and expand into the wholesale business

The Bakery prepares fresh Bread daily, Tea Biscuits, Desserts, Cakes, Fruit and savoury pies that are baked on the premises  using traditional recipes.

Smith's Birthday and Special occasion cakes are well known to Halifax and the Bakery still produces these cakes made specifically to order and hand decorated.
Wedding cakes are also a speciality of the Bakery . Each cake is custom made and unique. Our prices are very competitive.

The Cafe is Bistro style and offers clients the opportunity to savour an extensive sandwich menu served on our own fresh breads, and a selection of soups, chowders, hot foods prepared by our own Chef.

Our catering department specialises in Sandwich trays made with fresh bread, dessert trays and most of the items normally available for sale at the Cafe.
From Weddings to board room lunches, large events or that special occasion Cake, Smith's has been serving Halifax with quality produce for many years.
